EU Passporting into Maltese legislation | MITC Malta

Webinar description

Malta’s accession to the EU brought about the entitlement for an EU/EEA insurer or pure reinsurer to establish a branch or provide services in another EU/EEA state other than that where its head office is located. This has in turn triggered the transposition of the EU Passporting Directives into Maltese legislation. It is a licencing condition for a Maltese or a European insurance undertaking wishing to transact insurance business or establish a branch in any EU territory, to adhere to EU Passporting rules as stipulated under the respective chapters in the insurance rules.
