The ins and outs of Contractors’ All Risks Insurance

An Introduction and in depth look at the principles of a Contractors’ All Risks Insurance Policy and the existing exposures it carries to all parties involved including the owner, the contractor, sub-contractors, Authority, Bank and/or any surrounding third parties and passers by.


A Contractors’ All Risks Policy covers a project for many aspects which the owner may become legally liable to pay arising from a claim made against him and/or the contractor and/or subcontractors by a third party, arising following a material damage and/or bodily injury accident.

This cover, also known as an Engineering Risk, is offered to cover a number of aspects such as:-
• Damages during erection including tower cranes
• Third party property damages
• Third party bodily injury
• Workmen on site
• Materials in trade
• Wet Perils
• The regulating Authority’ interest
• Many others


Course Topics

The course will aim to go into the scope of cover, limit of cover, professional aspect, conditions and limitations.

  • Greater knowledge on a topic which has and will continue to be very central to how the island is moving from a construction aspect.
  • Striving towards an ACII and/or Obtaining their TII Licence

Assessment Questions and Answers

In line with MFSA requirements, a short multiple-choice assessment will be provided by the trainer towards the end of the session. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all students who attend the CPD (duration will be included on certificate). A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to those who sit for the assessment and are successful (pass mark 60%)


Mark Anthony Debono, ACII, IDCS (I.T.), Dip. Mgmt – Chartered Insurance Broker

Mark is an ex-MITC student, obtaining his ACII including International Diploma in Information Technology (I.T.) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Malta.

He began his career in the insurance industry in 1997 with Formosa and Camilleri Ltd (now Atlas Insurance PCC), where he handled motor claims for two years before moving to the motor underwriting department with Gasan Insurance (now GasanMamo Insurance), where he was promoted to Personal lines Underwriter until 2005.

Mark began his career as a broker, working for Island Insurance and Firstunited Insurance Brokers (now merged as Antes Insurance Brokers) until 2009, before he joined Allcare Insurance Brokers Ltd as an Assistant Manager.

He joined MIB Insurance Brokers in 2014 as a Divisional Director of the corporate clients division where he worked for 8 years until moving forward to his present position as Commercial Manager at National Insurance Brokers Ltd.
