As the world seems to keep moving faster every day, professional people in a wide area of fields are facing more and more exposures with regards to the tasks and advice they provide to their clientele. Professional losses are costly and normally deal with serious issues. Having the correct insurance coverage is crucial.

Course Topics

A Professional Indemnity Policy covers a professional for all sums which s/he may become legally liable to pay arising from a claim made against him/her or the firm, by a third party arising out of a negligent act or advice, error or omission in connection with the Business or Practice.

This cover, also known as errors and omissions, is offered to various types of professions including but not limited to:-

  • Lawyers and Notaries
  • Architects and Engineers
  • Accountants and Auditors
  • Medical Practitioners
  • I.T. Professionals
  • Professional Consultants
  • Insurance Brokers

This CPD will aim to go into the scope of cover, conditions and limitations.

  • Greater knowledge on a topic which has and will continue to be very central to how the island is moving
  • Striving towards an ACII and/or Obtaining a TII Licence

Assessment Questions and Answers

In line with MFSA requirements, a short multiple-choice assessment will be provided by the trainer towards the end of the session. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all students who attend the CPD (duration will be included on certificate). A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to those who sit for the assessment and are successful (pass mark 60%)

Total Learning Hours

Full course: 2 hours

Hours include contact hours, supervised practice hours, self-study hours and assesment hours.

Trainers

Mark Anthony Debono, ACII, IDCS (I.T.), Dip. Mgmt – Chartered Insurance Broker

Mark is an ex-MITC student, obtaining his ACII including International Diploma in Information Technology (I.T.) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Malta.

He began his career in the insurance industry in 1997 with Formosa and Camilleri Ltd (now Atlas Insurance PCC), where he handled motor claims for two years before moving to the motor underwriting department with Gasan Insurance (now GasanMamo Insurance), where he was promoted to Personal lines Underwriter until 2005.

Mark began his career as a broker, working for Island Insurance and Firstunited Insurance Brokers (now merged as Antes Insurance Brokers) until 2009, before he joined Allcare Insurance Brokers Ltd as an Assistant Manager.

He joined MIB Insurance Brokers in 2014 as a Divisional Director of the corporate clients division where he worked for 8 years until moving forward to his present position as Commercial Manager at National Insurance Brokers Ltd.
