This session is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge base on all aspects of the handling of cross-border motor insurance claims whether you are new to this area of insurance practice or are looking to refresh your knowledge.

This  session we will explore the cover provided by motor insurance policies for overseas use, the international agreements in place that are designed to protect victims of traffic accident, the legal aspects of cross border claims and the underwriting consideration that arise.

We will guide you through the nuances of cross-border traffic accidents, providing you with the knowledge and expertise you need to navigate the claims process effectively. You will gain insight into EU laws and regulations and learn how to best serve your clients both when handling cross-border traffic accident claims or when providing professional advice on the cover required for using vehicles abroad.

  • The Protection of Visitors offered by the Motor Insurance Directive.
  • The applicable law, jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgements.

Assessment Questions and Answers

In line with MFSA requirements, a short multiple-choice assessment will be provided by the trainer towards the end of the session. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all students who attend the CPD (duration will be included on certificate). A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to those who sit for the assessment and are successful (pass mark 60%).

Full course: 2 hours

Hours include contact hours, supervised practice hours, self-study hours and assesment hours.

Trainers

Francis Valletta

Francis is a Chartered Insurer with over 35 years of experience in Motor Insurance. He currently serves as the General Manager of the Motor Insurance Division at a leading motor insurer in Malta, where he oversees all aspects of the division’s operations. In addition, he is a Visiting Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Insurance and Risk Management at the University of Malta’s Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy, where he shares his expertise with the next generation of insurance professionals. Francis is an active member of several industry associations and committees, including the council of the Malta Green Card Bureau and the Motor Insurers Bureau, which he currently chairs. He also serves as a member of the Motor Sector Committee of the Malta Insurance Association and represents the committee in the Motor Insurance Working Group of Insurance Europe.
