June CPDs ahead of summer

13 May 2022

MITC has four CPD seminars planned for the month of June.   For those who have still not attended any sessions, this will provide the right opportunity to commence the statutory CPD requirements and to keep abreast of new knowledge and practices in the insurance environment and beyond.

June CPD schedule

To cater for all tiers, MITC has scheduled a session for Senior Managers and Directors, to help them with the wider understanding of compliance which is a governance area very relevant to the operations of any organisation in today’s heavy regulated business world. The session will be held on the 21st June and will be delivered by Dr Rakele Cini who is an expert in the field. More details can be accessed here.

On the AML front and due to popular demand, MITC will hold a practical session on customer risk assessment which has been an increasingly important tool for due diligence purposes, at a time when customer screening is vital. This session, to be held on the 23rd June 2022 and will be delivered by an experienced practitioner who has over 7 years experience in Risk Management. The tutor has been, for the past 4 years, occupying the role of Deputy MLRO. The name of this seminar is AML Customer Risk Assessment and Risk Scoring Methodology. More details can be accessed here.

Recently, there has been special emphasis on the identification of Ultimate Beneficial Owners by regulators. This, is in view of the importance of identifying areas/resources of responsibilities in a world where accountability is key. For this reason, a dedicated session on the importance of identifying the Ultimate Beneficial Owner will be organised on the 22nd June particularly to update professionals in the financial services sector. A highly experienced practitioner, Mr Silvio Chetcuti, who comes from a large institution, will be delivering this session during which he will explain the various related technical terms, outlining customer due diligence practices and discussing the related regulatory requirements. More details can be accessed here.

The last seminar for June 2022 will dwell on how one can prepare for the numerous reviews and inspections that subject persons and licensed entities are subject to. The session is intended for members of the Board, directors, MLROs, compliance officers and risk officers. This seminar which will focus on “How to prepare for an inspection” is scheduled for 28th June 2022 and will be delivered by Dr Rakele Cini. More details can be accessed here.
