As we enter the last quarter of yet another challenging COVID year, MITC has prepared a cohort of seminars that have been designed to keep the modern practitioner abreast of developments in the financial services and present an opportunity to complete the regulatory 12 hours of CPD training expected by the MFSA.
Our sessions during October
Acknowledging of the current climate, MITC was prompted to organise a CPD session to assess the impact of COVID on the insurance industry. A specialised talk on health and COVID-19 claims will be delivered, giving the opportunity to analyse the effects of the pandemic as well as to discuss the various adjustments that the industry has had to make as a consequence of the unprecedented pandemic.
On the AML front, MITC has included two sessions on designing a customer risk assessment (CRA) and on developments of AML in Europe. CRA is a mandatory process that is expected of companies dealing with investment or investment related business. This is obvious for all investment companies but also applicable to insurance who focus on life products and other long-term businesses.
Following the success of the talk on Brexit held in September, MITC has extended talks on cross border business, as this becomes especially important now that some UK business is being diverted elsewhere. A talk on cross border insurance business – freedom of service and beyond will be delivered to highlight the obligations and rights under freedom of service and freedom of establishment, applicable both to undertakings and intermediaries.
Since compliance is always an area of interest, especially in view of the tightening of procedures reminiscent of the grey listing obligations, MITC will bring over a specialist who has been subjected to inspection by the authorities. The speaker will provide first hand and practical advice on what to expect during a conduct compliance inspection by the MFSA, a session which will be held later during October. Finally, as MITC is very versatile in topic content, it is time to start introducing VAT related topics. Experts from Deloitte Malta will deliver a session on the introduction to VAT in financial services. This will be during the third week of October.

Training is delivered by experienced practitioners who are asked to be hands-on and practical in their deliveries as these are the most relevant to the practitioner attendees. All seminars are delivered online at 17:00 CET and may be followed at the comfort of your desired location.
